Rero Winery

Winery
Inspected 2025
The Siradzes' small family winery "Rero". It was established in 2022 by brothers Giorgi and Irakli Siradze. Name The winery is located in the village of Puti, Zestaponi district, in the so-called Siradze family estate. The residents of the area are close relatives. They provided us with great help in the construction of the winery. They still often help us with viticulture issues. Imeretian wines are pleasantly acidic, cheerful and very musical. The tiring work of viticulture and winemaking often ended with an Imeretian feast, where one of the chosen songs was the song Rero by the Odila ensemble from the village of Kitskhi in mother’s native village. This song was the inspiration for the name of our winery. Song link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=extGXlHICVM Where do we come from?! Our winemaking is a continuation of the winemaking of previous generations on our estate in the village of Puti, Zestaponi district. We inherited from our grandparents and parents the terroir of an old vineyard planted on the southern slopes of the Dasaveleti Valley and a tiled Imeretian house with a cellar on top. My grandparents were agronomists and winegrowers, and thanks to them, we (Giorgi and Irakli) have been involved in viticulture and winemaking since childhood. Meanwhile (between 2010 and 2020), the qvevris became old, problems arose, and it became unsafe to make wine in old qvevris. The vineyard, which produces grapes of the highest quality despite the heavy clay soil, and the love of our homeland in the village, led us to build a new cellar. In 2021 we began building a cellar directly from our own home, at our own expense, and installing new vessels and wine inventory in it, which was completed in 2022. Trainings, courses The experience accumulated over the years has been supplemented by the knowledge gained in viticulture, winemaking and sommelier schools in Georgia, Which helped us a lot in developing a modern vision, which is necessary for the production of quality Imeretian dry and natural sparkling (pet-nat) wines. We actively collaborate with the biodiversity company Elkana. Fermentation The fermentation process takes place entirely in the vat according to the Imeretian method (10-20% chacha) for dry wines. The only difference is the Otskhanuri Sapere red dry wine, which is fermented on full chacha and then aged in oak barrels after fermentation is complete. For natural sparkling (pet-nat) wine, the primary fermentation takes place in a tank using the European method and then in a glass bottle. In winemaking, we use only Imeretian grape varieties. So far, these are: Tsitsa, Tsolikouri, Krakhuna, Otskhanuri Sapere. There is also a separate small terroir dedicated to rare Imeretian grape varieties. A little about the label Our wine label tells the story of two brothers, who were dancers (we danced in an ensemble as children) and are now winemakers, continuing their winemaking career through their shared labor. We also wanted to popularize the Asomtavruli alphabet, which had been forgotten for some reason. That's why we decided to name it Rero Asomtavruli First Steps In 2022, our very first experiment - small-batch natural sparkling wine (pet-nat) - received great acclaim at the first Sparkling Wine Festival held on Mtatsminda, which led to the first sales at the festival and later in wine stores. This success gave us great motivation to continue producing natural sparkling wines, and consequently, we increased the production volume 7 times. Dry wines have managed to captivate sommeliers and wine shop owners. Despite the novice condition of winemaking, our wines are winners of competitions and festivals. It also causes a pleasant surprise among sommeliers, which is why it soon found its way into prestigious wine shops and restaurant wine lists. The winery is already hosting wine experts and enthusiasts. The wines pictured in the photo undergo the aging process in the Tetra Cave in Tskaltubo under conditions of equal humidity and temperature.
