MEPARISHVILI WINERY
Winery
Not under inspection
"In 2010, I returned from the city to the village with my wife and newly-born son. We began our life in the homestead left by our great-grandmother and grandfather. In my yard, an open-type cellar typical of Guria lay lifeless at the bottom of huge withered hornbeam and cherry-laurel trees. Day by day, the idea grew in my mind to somehow bring life and joy back to the cellar.
In 2013, I started renovating the vineyard and cultivating Gurian endemic, ancient varieties. In the same year, our son Beka was born. That's how the name of Meparishvili's cellar wine - "Beka's Wine" - came into being."
Currently, six different types of "Beka wine" are produced in the Meparishvili cellar: Chkhaveri with no grape skin, Chkhaveri pink with grape skin, partially amber Chkhaveri with grape skin, Sakmiela, Tsolikouri, and Chumuta.
Since 2020, "Beka's Wine" has been exporting a small quantity to the United States of America, and Australia was also added as an export destination.
The vineyard in the Meparishvili family's cellar is planted close to the house and the cellar, making it convenient for tourists and the production process alike.
Visitors have the opportunity to taste and purchase "Beka's wine" at the Meparishvili cellar. Wine tasting can be done both in the cellar and in the vineyard. Gourmet Gurian dishes await you here. During late autumn, those interested can also participate in grape harvesting.
