Natural Wine Festival “Amerimeri” to Be Held on December 6 This Year
Since 2024, the Amerimeri festival has been named in honor of Soliko Tsaishvili by decision of the Natural Wine Association. This year, the festival takes place on December 6 in Tskaltubo, once again hosted at Legends Tskaltubo Spa Resort.
The name “Amerimeri” was coined by Soliko Tsaishvili, one of the Association’s founders and a pioneer in reviving Georgia’s qvevri wine and natural‐winemaking traditions. His vision was to move the festival across Georgia to showcase each viticultural region. The inaugural Amerimeri was held in Kutaisi because, at the time, Western Georgia lacked a dedicated natural‐wine event. The founders of the Natural Wine Association still attach great importance to that first choice, and therefore Amerimeri remains in Imereti so that natural wine is more accessible to wine enthusiasts of Western Georgia, giving them the opportunity to meet and talk directly with qvevri‐producing winemakers at the festival.
First held in 2017, the Natural Wine Festival “Amerimeri” featured Soliko Tsaishvili of the Our Wine cellar among its inaugural participants. Unfortunately, Soliko passed away in 2018 and did not live to see the festival’s growing success.
Only member wineries of the Natural Wine Association may participate in Amerimeri. The Association comprises winegrowers and winemakers who adhere strictly to natural-winemaking traditions and rules, using grapes grown in organic vineyards. Vines are treated only with contact sprays - and then only in limited doses - while herbicides and synthetic, chemically produced mineral fertilizers are strictly prohibited.
In the cellar, from fermentation through storage and bottling, the use of selected yeasts, enzymes, flavor enhancers, wine-flavor regulators, added acids, bekmez, or any other industrial additives is forbidden.
In addition to wine connoisseurs, Amerimeri traditionally welcomes exporters, restaurateurs, wine experts, and journalists from Georgia and around the world. Participants can showcase their wines to these key decision-makers, forging connections that drive the export of Georgian natural wines to new markets.
The “Amerimeri” festival will be held on December 6 from 12:00 to 18:00 at Hotel “Legends Tskaltubo Spa Resort,” Rustaveli St. #23, Tskaltubo.
Ticket price: 25 GEL (includes festival catalog).
